About
What is this?
GTA Gas Prices is a daily tracker that shows how much gas prices in the Greater Toronto Area are going up or down tomorrow compared to today. No clutter — just the delta. The number you see is the predicted change in cents per litre, updated every day when tomorrow's price is announced.
Why do GTA gas prices change every day?
Ontario's retail gas prices follow a daily pricing cycle. Each evening, analysts publish the predicted price for the following day, which takes effect at 12:01am. The figure is driven by a combination of factors:
- Crude oil prices — the global commodity cost that underlies everything
- Refining and wholesale margins — the spread between crude and refined fuel
- Retail margin — what station operators add to cover operating costs
- Fixed taxes — federal and provincial excise taxes, HST, and the federal carbon levy
Because the first three components fluctuate daily with markets, the pump price at your station can change overnight even if you filled up yesterday.
Where does the data come from?
The primary source is en-pro.com, an Ontario-based fuel price tracking service. CityNews Toronto is used as a secondary source — they also source their data from en-pro.com. Your browser never contacts either service directly.
How do I get notified?
Install the site as a PWA (tap Add to Home Screen from your browser) and then tap Notify me daily inside the app. You'll get a push notification each afternoon when tomorrow's price is announced — no account or email required.
On iOS, the app must be added to your Home Screen before notifications can be enabled (iOS 16.4 or later).
FAQ
Why does it sometimes say "price not yet announced"?
Tomorrow's price is typically announced in the afternoon, but the exact time varies. If you visit before the announcement has been made — or if the upstream data source hasn't updated yet — the site shows a holding state rather than a stale or incorrect number. Check back later in the day, or enable notifications to be alerted the moment it's available.
Why is the price different at my local station?
The price shown is the Toronto-area average predicted by en-pro.com. Individual stations can be a few cents higher or lower depending on their location, brand, and local competition. The prediction is most accurate for large-volume independent stations in the 905/416 area.
How accurate is the prediction?
The predicted price comes directly from en-pro.com's daily forecast, which is widely used by Ontario gas stations to set their prices. It is generally accurate within a fraction of a cent for the GTA average. It is a prediction, not a guarantee — actual pump prices can occasionally differ if market conditions shift between announcement and midnight.
